I had been
waiting for about 30 years for a desktop computer and programs that would enable me to do some serious digital art work.
The first computer I worked on was as big as my
living room, and my first home computer was a Commodore 64. It saved
my work via a cassette deck.
Years passed and
other computers came and went, until the summer of 2003 when my new multi-media computer
arrived. That was when I started making slide shows. As I pushed the
parameters of the programs, my shows became more and more elaborate.
A good side show is a lot more than just a collection of pictures and some
fancy transitions. Pacing is vital, as well as the ability to
present material in a coherent manner and in the most effective order.
Because I am also a writer
(published novels and textbooks), I am able to compose both words and visuals effectively.
Several awards from the New Mexico Press Association and from the United
States Department of Agriculture attest to my ability.
Add sound
effects and music to the visuals, and you have something unique. The music I use is
culled from more than 50 years as a musician. I have an unbelievable
amount of music at my fingertips ranging through ethnic, classical
European, Celtic, pop, jazz, country, folk, new age. Some of my
slide shows are my version of a music video. Sometimes I even compose
the music.
Once people saw
my shows I began to get customers, and GrayPonyLady
HOMEMADE PRODUCTIONS came into being.
The
photograph, by the way, is from 1968 or there about, when I was a
professional folksinger slash college student.
